The Rockingham County Historical Society Museums and Archives (RCHSMA)
invites you to come visit, join us, and participate in your local heritage.
RCHSMA was established in 2011 through the cooperation of the members of the Rockingham County Historical Society, Inc.( est.1954) and the Museums and Archives of Rockingham County (est. 2008) and is the sponsoring organization of the Wright Tavern Historic Site and the future Museums and Archives of Rockingham County (MARC) Historical Complex in the village of Wentworth.
An Historic Event!
On July 12, 2011, we presented the Rockingham County Historical Society Museum & Archives (RCHSMA) vision of an Historic Complex in the County Seat to the County Commissioners' and the community and requested that the commissioners authorize the drafting of a lease between the County and RCHSMA for the 1908 Courthouse in Wentworth, N.C. to be presented for approval at the next meeting.
The Commissioners spoke of their support for the museum project and did just that.
Approval of this lease launches a whole new era for Rockingham County history!
